The correct EST (Eastern Standard Time) has been preset at the factory, so just plug the clock in and adjust the time zone as necessary. In the case of a power interruption, the built-in Lithium battery maintains the correct time so you don't have to re-set the clock. When Daylight Savings Time changes take place in the spring and fall each year, there is no need to adjust the clock because the built-in calendar recognizes the dates and automatically makes the proper time adjustments. Dual Alarms with Alarm Indicator permits two separate wake-up times with individual wake-up settings and confirms that the alarm has been activated to turn on at the pre-set time. Choose your own snooze time instead of being held captive by the short time intervals of other snooze times. Each press of the snooze button adds an additional 10 minutes to your total snooze time for up to a full hour of uninterrupted sleep. The Sony ICF-C318 Automatic Time Set Clock Radio with Dual Alarm has a 0.9" green LED display that is easily viewable from across the room, but takes up very little space on your nightstand. It hosts a number of features including automatic time set, automatic Daylight Savings Time adjustment, dual alarm, built-in calendar, AM/FM tuner and full power memory back up. The correct EST (Eastern Standard Time) has been preset at the factory, so just plug the clock in and adjust the time zone as necessary. Dual alarms with individual alarm indicators let you set two separate wake-up times with differing wake-up settings. In the case of a power interruption, the built-in Lithium battery maintains the correct time so when the power returns you don't have to re-set the clock.
Good product and I love the dimmer. (2008-12-30)
When I can't fall asleep at night the numbers on most digital clock radios seem like car headlights. I have been looking for a clock with a good dimmer. On it's lowest setting the numbers on this clock are dim indeed. On the higher settings the numbers are just fine during the day. The clock is also small, light and gets decent radio reception.
great little clock (2008-12-28)
I dig this little clock! Was looking for a clock that could be set at different times for my boyfriend and me, which was also not too loud or bright. After much research, this one certainly works for us.
I like that the controllers for setting each alarm are on either side of the clock; makes it easy to set in the dark, if one should go to bed after the other. The dim setting on the light is still a bit bright for us, but really is quite low. The beeping is not too loud, which we like, and is at a tone that doesn't give us a heart attack. It's easy to check what time you have set alarm for. Radio works fine; my boyfriend likes to set his alarm to the radio set on static, as a white noise type of alarm. Really, no complaints!
sono buoni (2008-12-21)
Decent radio with two settable alarms. Time big display. Services it purpose. Appears well made. Has a clock battery insied to keep time when power is lost. Probably lasts longer than AA batteries but may be slightly more difficult to find a replacement. Other issue is that you can't see the times the alarms are set for without turning a knob. This then advances or delays the alarm time. If alarm time was correctly set - you just wanted to check, you have to reset it back to the time you want.
Nice little radio (2008-12-20)
This is a nice little radio. The power went off recently and the time was right on when power resumed. I did expect to be able to see the time during the outage but this was not the case. Seems reasonable though considering the amount of power it would take to illuminate the large numbers on the face.
I did not have a chance to use the alarm feature during the outage but I trust that it would work. After all, it's a Sony.
Well-Made, Compact Clock Radio (2008-10-30)
I bought this for my husband. I was tired of listening to him cursing the old one. No complaints about this one. One day a week he has to get up an hour earlier than usual, so he's very happy with the dual alarm feature. We frequently have power interruptions (thank you JCP&L) and the battery backup feature is a must in our house. This unit doesn't take up much space and I don't think you'd find a better value.
